As a student, I am usually very timely with work that needs to be done.  I finish most, if not all, of my assignments on time and meet deadlines well.  When I do not understand something, I will usually contact the instructor via email and make appointment with him or her... or I expect the instructor to be able to answer my question(s) via response to my email.
